Display board and EOY ideas

Umm...it's been a LONG time, like way way way too long.
I've been keeping up with my blog reading and following my faves on FB and Instagram, but just never felt like I had the time or something to say, so ... it's been awhile.
I'm so excited to link up with 4th Grade Frolics. Monday Made It is my favourite linky. I have especially enjoyed reading them over YOUR summer. It takes me a whole week to get through them all.

So I am still in school {sad face}, but tomorrow is my last day. Can I get a HALLELUJAH!. So whilst all you lovely American bloggers are thinking back to school, I'm still thinking 'Get me outta here'.
My first Made It was one of those lightbulb moments. At the end of the year the kiddos get to take all their books, with all their years work, home with them. Inevitably the kids have a couple of plastic bags that are over loaded and tear.
I also wanted to do/get the kids something for the EOY and my creation was born...their own tote bags! I bought some plain canvas bags off Amazon and then let them decorate them with markers. The beauty of the bags is that pencil shows up well, but they are thin enough that the kids were printing off pics/font and tracing them onto their bags.

I think the bags turned out fab and the kids loved them. It was a win-win situation and now they have a permanent reminder of our year!

My second Made It is still kinda unfinished, but I won't really be finishing it off until Sep. I saw this idea on FB and wouldn't you know it, now that I want to give credit, I can't find it anywhere, not even on my Pinterest! So apologies and if you know whose idea this is, please let me know.

I love the idea of an Instagram board where you can change the hashtags out during the year. My board has a black felt background, so all I did was put Velcro (the hard side) on the hashtag and letters. I then just stuck them onto my board/border. The beauty of it is that I can move it around SUPER easily. After I took this pic I actually moved the letters onto the black.
It's hard to see in the pic, but the border is actually green burlap, which I found in Poundland (our version of Dollar store). I'm thinking about creating 18 instagram squares in bright colours and then putting the kids photos on top of those.

Sorry for the really bad glare, I have a skylight right above this board, so there was no way I could get rid of the glare.

Thanks so much Tara for hosting this awesome linky and to you for reading. I'm off to Thailand and Cambodia so this will probably be my one and only for the summer.

Cheers!

  1. Those bags are super cute! I love that you gave them creative control. I'll have to remember that for our end of the year. Thanks for the ideas!

  2. Love the bags-- they are a management tool, an end-of-the-year gift, and an activity rolled into one. Love it! I will have to keep it in mind for May.
